It is the first ever view into the ATELIERBETRIEBE, the “factory of non-commodity manufacture” that is both the artist’s European studio and mindset.
Filled with glimpses, fragments of thought and text, ideas, found objects and with sketches and drawings on every page, the book offers us a view into the artist’s previously unseen mental and creative spaces.
Allison Sommers is a mixed media artist, working primarily in drawing and installation. She has exhibited in galleries in the United States and Europe and currently lives in Berlin.
Her work is preoccupied with self-contained worlds and the recreation of familiar patterns independent of scale— the vastness of a solitary room, a monumental civilization in a pinch of earth.
