Elif Varol Ergen is a visual artist from Ankara, Turkey.
She holds an MA and PhD in the fields of illustration and Far Eastern contemporary graphic art. After graduation she traveled to Japan and Belgium to begin research into the alternative art scenes around the world – both trips had a significant early influence on her style and approach.
Ergen’s art focuses on feminism, parent-child relationships, sex discrimination, women’s rights and female perspectives on medieval culture and arts. Her works have appeared in galleries and journals around the world and she lectures on contemporary illustration at Hacettepe University in Turkey.
